Honeymoon 101 Tips for a Relaxing Honeymoon
Guest Post by Catherine Wood Hill
While Gina finishes her last minute wedding preparations I’m excited to write a guest post about one of my favorite topics – my honeymoon! Soon, she’ll be jetting off on her romantic trip of a lifetime. Today, I’ll write about mine.
To me, travel can be a lot of different things – exciting, educational, invigorating, and scary – it can also be relaxing and romantic. For a honeymoon, I recommend the latter. You just spent a year planning a wedding – let someone else do the heavy lifting on your vacation.
Three and a half years ago I was lucky enough to marry my best friend and then jet off to Belize to celebrate. I’m going to be honest – it was AWESOME. We went the luxury route, staying in a beachfront casita at Matachica Resort & Spa on Ambergris Caye. With only 26 rooms and a totally private beach our days consisted of deciding whether to lie on the beach bed or in the hammock and whether we should get a massage or go snorkeling on the reef. It was the perfect place to enjoy each other’s company and start our marriage off in absolute bliss.
Even though we were totally lazy, we made time to visit the Mayan ruins at Lamanai and do a jungle and cave tour. We just made it easy on ourselves and let the concierge do the planning for us.
Even now, three and a half years later, we reminisce about the relaxing, romantic time we spent in Belize and wish we could go back. Even though we didn’t see all of the sights we don’t regret a minute of our idle time.
We hope Tom and Gina have the same experience that they’ll remember forever and that they pay attention to this Honeymoon 101! Congrats
