My Love/Hate Affair with Thai Food
I love trying new food. I ate haggis in Scotland, escargot in France, and slurped down foie gras in California with barely any hesitance. Yet, for some reason, I have always had an uphill battle with Thai food. No matter what I tried, I just wasn’t a fan. I found the spices unappealing and the curry too spicy. So when I planned a trip to Thailand this past winter, I was a little concerned about what I was going to eat. What if I hated all Thai food? What if everything was too spicy? What would I eat? As I outline in my article for Lost Girls, Culinary Adventures: Thai Food, I really shouldn’t have worried. With an open mind, a willingness to try new things, and a lot of water to abate the spice level, I found that I actually loved Thai food. Who knew? Well, apparently everyone but me, who all looked at me like I was crazy when I would state I didn’t like Thai food.
