Favorite Travel Links From This Week

The east coast got dumped on last night. I feel bad for whoever has to dig that car out from the snow.

I was supposed to be in Nantucket today, but alas, the snowstorm hitting the east coast is keeping me in Boston. It’s not all bad, though. This California girl has been quite enjoying watching the snow fall outside the window from inside my sister’s warm apartment. My sister assures me that since she has snowshoes we are not technically stranded or stuck inside. We’ll see about the snowshoes getting put to use…

If you’re also on the east coast and stuck inside on this quite spectacular winter’s day, here are some of my favorite travel links from the past week to help you pass the time.

Kristin from Camels and Chocolate lives out my pirate dreams by climbing to the top of a huge sailboat.

I worked as a marketer in the cruise industry for five years, meaning I spent a lot of time learning about the “big 3″: Carnival, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean. So I found reading Deej’s account of a breakdown of the three really interesting on his website, the World of Deej – you’ll find it helpful if you’re trying to decide which of the three to sail away on.

Charles of the Barefoot Nomads writes an engaging and informative review of Xcaret park on the Mexican Riviera – it made me more bummed Tom and I didn’t have a chance to visit Xcaret when we were in Mexico for our honeymoon!

Juno of Runaway Juno shares some of her highs and lows of being an entrepreneur and how she realized in order to be great she needed to build something great.

Entertainment Weekly gives a hilarious recap of last Monday’s Bachelor. If you’re not an addict of this show, like I am, just watch a couple episodes and you’ll soon fall under it’s ridiculous spell. As for what this has to do with travel, they traveled to Montana…and drank goat’s milk! Yes, I’m not quite sure the Montana tourism board had that in mind when they sponsored the Bachelor, but it still made for some entertaining TV watching.

Great Deal of the Week: Right now at G Adventures, you can save 20% off select departures to the Galapagos Islands. This is one of my dream trips!

So did you work for all three of those cruise lines? Working for a small (non-profit) ship, I find that whole cruise industry pretty fascinating.

I actually worked for an online travel agency that specialized in the cruise industry. It is a pretty neat industry – amazing what they can do and the entertainment they can provide on board those ships.
