Hearst Castle Pools: A Swimmer’s Paradise

The Hearst Castle is a huge mansion that William Randolph Hearst built in the hills of central California, a short distance off the Pacific coast but secluded well from the outside world. After his death, the Hearst family donated the estate and thousands of acres of surrounding land to the state of California and now visitors can see the over-the-top opulence and grandeur of the Hearst Castle with their own eyes, including the majestic Hearst Castle pools. Maybe it’s just because I’m such a water lover, but the Hearst Castle pools appealed to me even more than the interior of the mansion. The inside of Hearst Castle definitely was grand and did indeed feel like a castle, but it was too stuffy and ornate looking for my taste. But the pools. Oh, the pools! I could very happily spend every day lying next to them and swimming around in them. Take a look at them and you can see why:

Our guide told us that once a year the pools are opened up for the employees of the Hearst Castle to swim in! I think I need to switch jobs...

Right?! :) I want that pool. With the million dollar view would be nice, too. ;)

I can`t decide which pool is more beautiful, what a stunning place.

I know what you mean. I think I’m more partial to the indoor pool, but it’s hard to decide!
