One Day in Utah, I rode on this…

Feeling Safe and Warm in an Orange Bubble Chair Lift at Canyons in Park City

In addition to great runs, excellent chalets with good food and drinks, and gorgeous scenery, Canyons Ski Resort in Park City, Utah, has something even more memorable.

A Bubble Chair Lift.

Ok, maybe it’s not more memorable than swishing down a perfectly groomed part of the mountain on your skis or snowboard at Canyons Ski Resort, but it’s a pretty close second. Especially if, like me, you’re prone to getting cold on chair lifts no matter how well you pack for ski trips, and are also scared of open heights.

The Bubble heated chair lift…well, makes you feel like you’re in a safe little bubble!

Bubble Heated Chair Lift: All safe and sound (and warm!) in my little bubble.
All safe and sound (and warm!) in my little bubble.

What makes it different from typical chair lifts? For starters, the color. It’s orange and stands out against the white snow and pine trees. That orange color is the part of the chair lift that come around the chair lift after you sit down and envelopes you in a cozy warmth. Yup, this is a heated chair lift. Even the seat is heated.

The Bubble Chair Lift: Pure genius.
Pure genius.

And though you pull the “bubble” hood down like you would a safety bar on a regular chair lift, this one feels even more safe since it covers the chair. No falling off on this chair lift. Though there is a little peek of openness at the bottom so you still need to be careful not to drop your cell phone or gloves.

Bubble Chair Lift: Just enough room for your legs and skis or snowboard to hang through.
Just enough room for your legs and skis or snowboard to dangle through.

The Bubble chair lift at Canyons Ski Resort has two stops. Make sure you don’t get off at the wrong one. Of course if you do, you can just ski or snowboard to the bottom and  go up the innovative Bubble heated chair lift again.

They are! Especially when the wind is blowing hard.

Ingenious! I’ve only had a few ski lessons so I haven’t graduated to using chair lifts yet, but they DO tend to look cold!
